Since I don't know quite how it's going to look yet I've decided to go with the idea of implementing word art but I've used the website that I found last time and it's really fun. The main issue with it is that it might be too colourful again I don't really want to go that way anymore as I don't think the websites that are found for inspiration are really all that accurate to what I want to do now. I've tried to focus in on the colourways that I want to use and just have the Spurs of colours from the word art and it's kind of fun but I think it might be too good ugly design. As the ugly design is somewhat in fashion now it might not be the way to go.
This idea is based on the websites is just throwing edit everything on it to confuse the user into not understanding what it is that they’re looking at. This could be a standardised product whether if it’s within advertisement or packaging but removing the branding of the brands as that is a big part of alcohol consumption. As many people just buy into the brand and not even the taste.
in the previous critique, people said to test out word art. I found a website that would let you do it and decided to take a half has it hazard approach to it and just put it all on and see how it turned out i did the same and more excessively with the symbols from previously as well. Say-ing us no one likes to be told what they can and cannot do so decided to tell them. I’ve also incorporated several different typefaces in this along with some script typefaces.
Basing the design on the previous layout but removing the background and referencing the work previously done but also adding a gross feeling with a brushstroke. Was quite effective but it might be too much as it all got lost.
This version of the can have a simpler background to it compared to the last one and the effect of it is a bit better as he can read it. There is still a question if weather if the word art is too childlike it is important not have it seemed fun and the word is nostalgic which might lead people to buy it.
This 4th design it’s based on the current design of the Kopperberg can but instead of using ac-tual nice imagery I’ve used word arts that said drink responsibly, this is truly horrific and does not work as it’s fully branded with the Kopperberg just in a worse typeface the only good thing about it I think would be The CDC link at the top as I’d like it to link to a government website that showcases the health risks of drinking excessively.
Working on focused on the colourways i made discount which from my feedback were found to be the grossest one but they couldn’t read what was said on it so it would be against its purpose as the aim is to inform people about the issues of drinking. The dark colour works quite nicely in a way but the information needs to be legible. This version is without the word art and the overall design of it seems more serious and less childlike.
taking pared back approach to design and focus on the information I made this were on the front of it it has information about what is somewhat within the range of normal drinking hab-its and is not lethal for both men and women as well as information of what excessive drinking calls at the bottom of it the branding is not completely him but it’s put amongst the other type in a similar typeface. This would hide it as it’s not part of the hierarchy of the bottle i said read the volume and the percentage and most importantly drink responsibly first. I’ve also done the repetitive pattern on the side of it with all the symbols for recycling pregnancy and units in a grid pattern to really hammer in that these are somewhat rules for the can. I wasn’t mean the scanning code excessively large similar to ones in ALDI as it’s cheap can and a brand like Kopperberg or another side is abuse might not appreciate this approach and people drinking it might look good lately. The colour used is way more pleasant than the others and from feed-back from our peers they do prefer this one purely aesthetically but they also said that this is the one that they read so that might be the better approach for it to have it more legible but maybe add some of the elements from the other cans.
initially, I was going to go with the least liked typefaces from designers and use that, but as the project has developed I found myself drawn to the monotype as its current enough whilst not being hyper-modern. The use of the monotype is anonymous enough so it works across the branding but still has enough personality and believability in its real form to work as an informational channel for the user. The typeface also lends itself to several different line lengths that can be used to create some sort of hierarchy or lack thereof in the design it's anonymous enough so it doesn't have a huge personality but it's still not as bland or as rooted in history as a typeface such as Helvetica is. With the use of repetition in the design the typeface this neutral enough to create order within all of it are you using a serif typeface or some serve typeface without anything else going for it or too much movement in might disturb it all the rigid design of the monotype works well in this case in my opinion.
