story
The concept is based on having to put together the story like manuscript writes do with the stories they tell.
the idea is based on the postmodern way of destroying a typeface and create something else with meaning put together with the modernist approach with the typeface itself if you manage to put it together.
The abstract shapes could align to become something else this relates to the target audience in that it forces them to think differently on the way that they view posters.

retro
this idea is based on patterns found in the older films shown at the film festival this idea is based on a tie I found in a screen cap from the film 12 angry men that they showed last year. the idea of the posters is to make three different patterns using liff as the pattern starter. and play with the colours that are associated with the decade or year that it was brought out.
projector
taking inspiration from the modernist movement in the angle of the text and placement of the text reppresenting the postmodernist approach. The typographic layout is resembling a projector that is used in the cinema. The color scheme would be kept black and white in homage to the classic black and white films they show. this would also appeal to the film enthusiast target audience.
film roll
This idea is based on the pattern found on film rolls, in that it is repetitive and has square patterns, the design layout would be left aligned so it relates to the new typography idea that Tschichold talks about in his book. The illegible pattern relates to the postmodern idea as to showcases what the poster is for instead of saying it clearly.
